High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At Bondi Public School, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how Bondi Public School supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

In our classroom

At Bondi Public School, our High Potential Gifted Education program is designed to nurture and challenge every gifted learner through a dynamic blend of in-class support and targeted withdrawal programs. Every class is an enrichment class, where differentiation is seamlessly integrated to meet the diverse strengths and learning needs of our students. Our approach ensures that each child is engaged, inspired, and extended through tailored learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

At Bondi Public School, every classroom buzzes with enrichment, where high potential learners are supported to excel and flourish in a stimulating and inclusive environment. We celebrate each child’s unique abilities, guiding them to reach their full potential and become confident, lifelong learners.

Across our school

This year, our enrichment offerings are more exciting than ever. Students participate in Authentic Authors, a unique program where budding writers develop their voice and publish original works, fostering a genuine love for storytelling and literacy. Our MovieMakers group is gearing up to enter the prestigious Film By: The City competition, empowering students to explore literacy and creativity through film production. Additionally, our gifted learners engage in vibrant debating sessions, sharpening their communication and reasoning skills. Mathematics enthusiasts thrive in our Maths Olympiad and Maths Games, where logical thinking and challenge-based learning take centre stage.

Once a term, Bondi Public School proudly hosts the external GATEWAYS program, bringing together our students with like-minded peers from neighbouring schools. This collaborative experience encourages teamwork, innovation, and the opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom in a stimulating environment.

Bondi Public School has a strong focus on promoting and developing student potential in the Physical Domain. Students are given the opportunity to trial for, and participate in, district and regional sporting opportunities in all sports offered through the Department's School Sport Unit. In addition to these opportunities, students achieving at a high level in athletics, swimming and cross country at our school carnivals are able to represent the school at district and regional carnivals.
